Lame

I know it is lame to apologize about the lack of posting, because that presumes that I am so important in your minds that you might have noticed. It is just that some of my blog friends are such excellent post-a-dayers and usually I am too.

But I'm tired. Long week of classes and meetings and volunteer things after work. Today I did a freelance job that took most of the day.

The carpet is filthy, the car is dirty, and the shower looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon bathed there and left part of the black lagoon behind himself.

Here's the problem with housework: when I get home at night (on the nights I get home early enough not to just fall into bed), I want to relax and entertain myself, not clean. In the morning, I am too rushed just trying to feed and clothe myself somewhat appropriately for work. On weekends, I do freelance girl reporter jobs or, you know, try to have the fun that I work so hard all week to deserve.

Which leaves when? Never!!

Do any of you have this problem too?

um, you mean you don't have a maid? Seriously Suebob, you simply must get one. It's great. I know because I am the one for my home.
And what is this "fun" to which you refer?

I invite people over. That's the ONLY thing that gets me to clean the bathrooms. At least after I finish cleaning, I get to have fun.

YES I have that problem.

And I was wondering where you'd been. :P

I am sitting here at 9:30, and I have MORE cleaning to do, and I just want to eat ice cream and watch a movie. So, I think I will. But, the cleaning is NEVER done.

You know what sucks? When you stay at home all day and wallow in the filthiness of it all, yet still do nothing to remedy the situation.

I hereby excuse you from cleaning duties except for (as Amanda said) when you have company, or the Black Lagoon guy takes up permanent residence (unless he's cute, in which case you're welcome to make him feel at home). There. Feel better?

It is so funny - I was just thinking the same thing today! I had a chance to do dishes and laundry for the first time in awhile... though I am way too embarrassed to admit how long it has been :)

Oy! I hear you. Except mine isn't "when I get home from work", it's "when the baby is napping". Who wants to clean then? It's the only chance I get to relax.

OR I stay up way past my bedtime (like right now) because that's the only time I don't have others needing me.

that happens on a regular basis, though i've been particularly lax since i got out of the hospital. (don't bother to bring up the fact that that was 3 weeks ago today.)
it's just that the dishes/laundry never get done. if i actually wash & dry them in one go, there's always more a couple hours later. not to mention when i wash dishes at my bf's house. yeesh!

Yes, that is exactly why I have a cleaning lady come in every other week ($50 a pop). Sure, I still have to do laundry and dishes, but I never have to scrub a floor or a toilet, dust, or otherwise pry myself away from R&R on evenings and weekends.

I think everyone does. One good thing in my home is we have a boy's bathroom and a girl's bathroom. My husband can splash water all over the counter and not wipe it up if he wants to, leave his towel and clothes on the floor in his bathroom while mine stays clean. He doesn't have to hear me bitching about how filthy the bathroom is and I don't have to pick up after him, because I never go in there..... :o) (I would suggest all couples have them, it can really do wonders for a marriage, heehee)

I hate dishes which might be why I also hate cooking, because of the dishes!

Yes but only because I can't figure out what to write about.

Given the choice between watching TV, blogging or cleaning a toilet, I would pick the toilet any day. I'm totally kidding. Who wants to clean when they could be relaxing? I doubt when I'm old that I'll be wishing I had spent more time cleaning.

Mark (partner, for those playing at home) and I were just talking about this yesterday. It feels like we spend all weekend cleaning just to get our house in some semblance of shape (and trust me, it's not all that good), and then two days later it is a disaster again, the laundry has piled up again, there is dog hair all over again, etc. It's a never ending battle and it just makes you want to pull your hair out.

My apartment is dirty. Not dirty enough that people don't want to come visit me because it is gross, but still, I barely ever clean. Cleaning is overrated.

And I did miss you. Not that I want to make you feel pressure to post every day, but so that you know that you are important enough to me that I notice.
